Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer
I read this book for the first time my Junior year of college, and it honestly changed my life. I was lazy with no idea direction in life. I played baseball, I didn’t really do homework, I didn’t know what I was going to do with my future. And then I read about Pat Tillman. I read about how he gave up football and his life to do what he thought was right for the country he loved. I read about his dedication and his determination, and I decided I had to change. Reading about this American hero changed my life, and this will forever be my favorite book.
The Martian by Andy Weir
The best books are fiction books that, in the middle of reading, you question whether it actually happened. The Martian is so realistic, and so well written, that it’s nearly impossible to discern the truth from the fiction. It feels so real that you google “Mars exploration” and are shocked that no human has stepped foot on the planet’s surface…yet.
